Redman Is Back With Whut? Thee Album Real Hip-Hop

While there were rappers that were funny before Reggie Noble, Whut? Thee Album set a new standard for hardcore rap music with a comedic edge. Redman’s rhymes were rugged and as comedically raw as Eddie Murphy giving him a style that was unheard at the time and unmatched in the decades that followed. Two decades after its initial release, Whut? Thee Album remains one of hip-hop’s undeniable classic albums.

Whut? Thee Album owes a strong influence to a few of Redman’s idols who soon became mentors to a young Reggie Noble. According to Brian Coleman’s Check The Technique, a teenaged Redman idolized the smooth, slow flow of EPMD and the comic flair and gusto of Biz Markie.

Redman would get a chance to work with all of these men after a chance meeting at an EPMD concert in Noble’s hometown of Newark, New Jersey, that led to Redman becoming one of  the Long Island rap group’s solo artists.

EPMD’s Erick Parrish would be instrumental in the production of Red’s debut, Whut? Thee Album, in 1992, co-producing many of the album’s tracks while mentoring Red in the art of studio production.

Meanwhile, fellow comic rapper, Biz Markie, would take Red on the road to battle fellow rappers, helping bolster the young rapper’s reputation in hip-hop circles.

Twenty-years later, Redman’s Whut? The Album remains of the greatest debuts of all-time.

Its P-Funk-influenced production gave it a left-field vibe for an East Coast rapper while his loud, raw comic raps made him an instant hit with rap fans.

Whut? The Album would be certified Gold, a few months, after its initial release and many of its classic songs including “Time 4 Sum Aksion,” “Blow Your Mind” and “Tonight’s Da Night” would go on to be staples of parties for the next two decades. Whut? The Album is often considered one of Red’s finest efforts and a true classic to the modern rap fan.

Kenya Mall Shooting: At Least 59 Killed, 175 Injured in 'Senseless Act of Violence'

At least 30 hostages remain trapped inside an upscale mall in Nairobi, Kenya, more than 24 hours after unsuspecting shoppers were met with a siege of terror when attackers dressed in black, wearing facemasks and vests, threw grenades and opened fire on unsuspecting crowds.
Kenya's interior Cabinet secretary Joseph Lenku said at least 59 people were killed and at least 175 others were injured in the attack.

While more than 1,000 people were rescued from the shopping center, Kenyan forces continue to swarm the mall are as a tense standoff ensues.

"The priority is to save as many lives as possible," Lenku said.

Terror at Nairobi Mall: Kenyan President Vows to Defeat Terrorists

Overnight, a senior Obama administration official confirmed to ABC News that four Americans are amongst the injured. Two victims -- including one child – remain hospitalized, the official said.

Three British nationals are confirmed dead in the attack, as French and Canadian officials said that their nations each had two citizens killed.

Officials say there are at least 10 to 15 gunmen involved. Initially it was believed the gang were armed robbers but it soon became clear the attackers were targeting non-Muslims.

"The gunmen told Muslims to stand up and leave. They were safe, and non-Muslims would be targeted," said witness Elijah Kamau who was shopping in the mall.

This morning, the first and second floor of Westgate Mall have been contained, as forces work to secure the ground floor and basement of the mall, a U.S. official told ABC News.

The gunmen appear to have been "contained" by responding forces, the official said. It is unclear if some of the attackers have escaped, the official said.

Terrified shoppers and staffers who were able to make their escape described a harrowing scene to Kenyan media, which involved stepping over dead bodies on the way to safety.

The gunmen hit one of the most upscale places in Nairobi.

The Westgate Mall is a destination for Kenya's elite. It bills itself as the city's premier mall, boasting that it offers customers a "first world interior" and a "safe and serene environment." It was opened in 2007 and has more than 80 stores.

Somalia's al-Qaidia-linked rebel group, al-Shabab, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that it was in retaliation for the 2011 involvement of Kenyan forces in their country to fight the Islamic insurgents.

"They're seeking to embarrass Kenya and get them to withdraw their troops," Associated Press reporter Jason Straziuso, who is currently in Nairobi, told ABC News."These hardcore terrorists know that this generates news in Europe and America."

While Kenya's elite troops moved into position at the mall Saturday night, Straziuso said that the most important question now is how they plan to free the hostages who are held up inside.

The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi suspended all U.S government temporary personnel, and told Mission personnel to shelter in place, avoid the Westgate mall area and avoid demonstrations or gatherings as the situation, according to its Facebook page.

State Department Deputy Spokeswoman Marie Harf said U.S. officials were closely monitoring the situation.

"We condemn this senseless act of violence that has resulted in death and injury for many innocent men, women, and children. Our condolences go out to the families and friends of all victims. We have reports of American citizens injured in the attack, and the U.S. Embassy is actively reaching out to provide assistance," Harf said in a statement.

A Scientist In Nigeria Used Magnets To Prove Gay Marriage Is Wrong

Scientifically proved that gay marriage is wrong

Nigerian newspaper The Daily Live profiled Amalaha, who has written and published various articles as a science reporter. Along with puffing his chest over his various achievements in science, Amalaha revealed his head-turning revelation that gay marriage is wrong and how his multilayer research proves as such.

A bar magnet is a horizontal magnet that has the North Pole and the South Pole and when you bring two bar magnets and you bring the North Pole together you find that the two North Poles will not attract. They will repel, that is, they will push away themselves showing that a man should not attract a man. If you bring two South Poles together you find that the two South Poles will not attract indicating that same sex marriage should not hold. A female should not attract a female as South Pole of a magnet does not attract the South Pole of a magnet. But, when you bring a North Pole of a magnet and a South Pole of a magnet they will attract because they are not the same, indicating that a man will attract a woman because of the way nature has made a female.

Along with using his physics theory, Amalaha also introduced chemical, biological, and mathematical examples to debunk gay marriage and professors at his school back up his claims. Not only that, Amalaha was told by instructors that he will win a Nobel Prize one day for his research.

Amalaha was also commended by Dr. Henry Boyo, head of the Department of Physics at UNILAG. “He conceptualised the idea of using sciences and mathematics to prove gay marriage wrong and we have worked it here,” said Dr. Boyo to Daily Live. “Some people make claims to religion but he went a step further to use science and mathematics to prove gay marriage wrong.”

Earlier this year, the Nigerian government passed a controversial anti-gay bill, which threatens up to 14 years in jail for any offenders and even death by stoning in some remote parts of the African nation.

Tupac Shakur Stories Goes On

September 13, 1996 is a day that will forever be immortalized in hip-hop history as the day a legend left us.

Tupac Shakur was 25 years old at the time of his death 17 years ago, leaving behind a legacy as rich in lyricism as it was in attitude, a man who helped define a sound and who led a movement, who is widely considered one of the best rappers of all time and one of the most engaging personalities hip-hop has ever seen.

His legacy is massive—for both those who knew him and those who didn’t—and his shadow exists over much of what the West Coast has done in the past 20 years.

Since his death, his mother Afeni has helped put out numerous posthumous albums, books of his poetry, and generally has helped preserve his legacy.

Buckshot, one of the few who spent time with ‘Pac in the recording studio, agreed to speak on the condition that Afeni’s role in his legacy also be remembered—”his mother is our mother,” he said. “Because Tupac is the son of hip-hop, then we should always give praise to the mother who gave birth to the son of hip-hop.”

She, and Buck, were two of many for whom Tupac’s impact has been immeasurable. On the 17th anniversary of his death, a handful of rappers who knew him or were around him during his life, gathering favorite stories and small anecdotes surrounding their fallen friend.

They all  remember the good times, the positive times that helped make Tupac who he was: a legend.

It’s one of many outlandish remarks.
Through Gucci’s lively timeline, he made it clear that he was no longer associated with Atlantic Records and their distribution deal. According to an anonymous former representative as told to the Fader, the person states, “he’s not with Atlantic anymore.”

There is no new information on why Gucci and Atlantic split. The source continues to say that he/she is unsure how the deal ended, but it may have “been a time thing.” Another piece of information to add to the Gucci development is his longtime manager Coach K is no longer representing him. As pointed out by Complex, the Atlanta-based veteran hasn’t been with him for about three months.

A number of rappers have responded to Gucci since he called them out individually. In particular, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, T.I. are just a few who didn’t hold back

This song is perfect for a chilled out Friday evening with friends, where you are all celebrating the good life. It has a very strong feel good vibe. The use of reverb and the overall mix gives the song a very expansive, large sound. The verses are very impressive. The delivery is catchy, filled with clever little double entendre and coupled with the intelligent use of metaphors and similes.

DMX’s Streaking Incident In A Hotel

According to a statement released by the publicist of rapper DMX, an August 31 incident involving the New York rapper streaking in a Detroit, Michigan hotel prior to performing at a show in the Motor City was nothing more than “a playful dare between friends.”

The incident was caught on video thanks to a security camera placed in one of the hotel’s hallways. In the 30-second video, DMX is seen walking the halls in a pair of boxers. He later enters another hall, takes off his boxers and then proceeds to streak his way past what appears to be a hotel employee.

The statement released on the emcee’s behalf also says that DMX and his companions were unaware of the security camera present in the hotel hallway.

"DMX was at Detroit hotel with his DJ and his road manager before his performance with Eve and Lil Kim on August 31st.

X and the team were killing time at the hotel before the concert and dared each other to streak in the hallway.

No one was aware that security cameras were rolling and it was just a playful dare between friends," read the statement from DMX's publicist.

At this time, it appears that DMX will not face any legal repercussions as a result of his streaking.

Regardless of what may happen regarding the streaking incident, DMX has found himself engulfed in a number of legal woes over the past few years.

Most recently, the Undisputed rapper was arrested several times this year on charges that include driving under the influence and driving without a license. DMX also served seven months at an Arizona State Prison mental health unit from 2010 to 2011 after violating his probation.

The Notorious B.I.G. clearly remains a much-loved fixture in his native Brooklyn, New York, as a fan of the late rapper has started a petition to have the intersection of St. James Place and Fulton Street to be co-named Christopher Wallace Way.

Thelifefiles.com has provided the contents of the petition, which is available to sign on Change.org.

"Christopher Wallace 'Notorious B.I.G., Biggie Smalls, Big Poppa' is a native of Brooklyn, NY, and his success through his artistic and creative lyrical wordsmith in music has influenced people around the world," explains the petition. "This is a petition to honor Christopher Wallace with the co-naming of the corner of this childhood home at St James Place and Fulton Street in Brooklyn, NY to Christopher Wallace Way."

The request extols the Notorious B.I.G.'s virtues, and addresses the impact he had on music. "Artistically during Christopher Wallace time in music he was considered the best at his craft, so much so, he was given the highest esteem by the leading Hip Hop magazine, The Source, as King of New York."

The petition also addressed some of the themes Biggie covered in his music. "Coming from modest beginning the story of Christopher Wallace tells the story of a boy to a man accomplishing greatness, using words as his tools. The story Christopher Wallace continues to have a resounding influence on new generations although he passed away in 1997.

"Please take the time to sign the petition for Christopher Wallace Way, and ask others to sign the petition also. Thank you for your time and consideration."

"Spread Love It’s The Brooklyn Way," adds McCarthy at the end of the petition.

On March 9, 1997, Biggie was fatally shot by an unknown individual or individuals in Los Angeles, California, mere months after Tupac Shakur, with whom B.I.G. was embroiled in a high-profile beef, had been similarly shot and killed.
