Rapper Papoose Says He's The King Of New York And Claiming To Be Better Than Jay Z.

A pugnacious Bed-Stuy rapper who already took on Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar in rhymes last year took a new swipe at Brooklyn star Jay Z on Friday.

“Nobody is better than me — Jay-Z, nobody,” said Shamele Mackie, better known by the stage name Papoose. “

None are more lyrically inclined than me.
None of them. I’m definitely the king of New York. I am the greatest out of New York.”
“When I look in the mirror, I don’t see Jay Z — I see Papoose,” said the musician, who’s married to Remy Ma, a Grammy-nominated rapper serving time for a 2007 shooting.

“More power to him, but he’s not better than me.”

The 36-year-old artist burst onto the scene in 2005, but so far he’s only achieved moderate mainstream hip-hop success.

His debut studio album, “The Nacirema Dream,” was released last March after many delays, mixtapes and a failed deal with Jive.

That album, released independently, has sold 17,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

He’s struggled to get his music played on New York hip-hop radio stations, but he insists he’ll keep making music.

“It’s not going to stop me,” he said of the lack of spins. “I’m going to release a body of music every month. I don’t feel like there’s no artist out there doing that.”

Last year, he slammed Drake and Big Sean on a dis track after the West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar called himself the “King of New York” in his track “Control.”

ou ain't the king of s--t,” Papoose said on the track. “Kendrick, Kanye and Drake they act feminine, wear a lot of clothes you usually see women in.”

“My pen game is the most immaculate,” Papoose told the Daily News. “I bring the most to the table on every level, concept, substance.”

Papoose is awaiting the July 31 release of Ma, who is serving time at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women for the shooting of Makeda Barnes-Joseph, who was accused of stealing $3,000 from the musician.

“That’s going to be a very special day for me,” said the rapper of his wife’s release. “They say I never smile, but they going to see me with a Kool Aid smile that day.”

As for his plans with her when she is released: “I want to take her out to eat,” he said, sharing plans to take her to Tao. “We going to go over there and have a good meal.”

Upcoming Miami Rapper SweetPinkxx killed by boyfriend

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (WSVN) — A Pembroke Pines man linked to the shooting death of his pregnant girlfriend has committed suicide after leading police on a chase down Interstate 95, authorities said.

According to police, at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, a Boynton Beach Police crime scene investigator spotted Clifson Cerve's white Nissan Maxima on the southbound lanes of I-95, at Gateway Boulevard in Boynton Beach.

Officials attempted to stop the 26-year-old, but he refused to comply.

Officers chased the vehicle on the southbound lanes of the interstate until it crashed just south of the Congress Avenue exit in Boca Raton. They then ordered the man to come out of his car, but instead, Cerve shot himself in the head, police said. He was transported to Delray Medical Center, where he later died.

Police had been looking for Cerve after, they said, he shot and killed his girlfriend, 25-year-old Anuska Dillon, who was five months pregnant.

She was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head at the couple's home in the Harbour Cove apartments in Pembroke Pines, early Thursday morning.

Police said the deadly gunshot rang right next to Dillon's 6-year-old daughter. "She was actually in the bed where her mom [was shot]," said Denisha Owens, the victim's aunt.

"When he shot her, she went under the covers."

The child was not hurt. Owens said the child tried to open her mother's eyes and then ran to a neighbor's apartment to get help.

Dillon was supposed to meet with her doctor Thursday to find out the sex of her baby. "She actually had an appointment today to go get an ultrasound," said Owens.

"I was supposed to take her, too, but unfortunately, that didn't happen." Her family said the couple had been dating for about nine months and had just moved in together this past weekend.

"She never said he was violent, nothing like that," said Owens. I don't know, he probably just snapped, but she never mentioned nothing." Owens said her niece was a devoted mother who did not deserve such a violent fate. "She was a lovely, caring person," she said. "Her daughter was her heart. She loved her daughter." Dillon's daughter is currently staying with her grandmother.

Police continue to investigate."

Mixtape Release: Artist Dtox Dtreeman single titled " I'm So High " [ Audio ]

With the kind of adroit self-awareness only found in careful and well-honed lyricism, Dtox invites listeners to walk with him on a beautiful tightrope of euphoria above the world of a man in anguish on his lead single "I'm So High", off of his upcoming EP "Paraphernalia".

Born and raised in Elizabeth (Eastwick), NJ, "Tox" has had a love for music since he can remember.

Learning how to play trumpet at age 10 and how to DJ at age 12 gave him a developed ear for what moves people.

Dtox accidentally fell into making music in November '08 when he went to visit a friend during a studio session his friend had booked.

"Tox" noticed his friend's motivation dying and decided to jump on some tracks and have fun to pick things back up.

Dtox wrote eight hooks and they recorded six songs that very night. He is bringing back lyricism with that classic "Boom Bap" sound!!!

Andre 3000 Working On Upcoming Aretha Franklin Album

Speaking with Billboard on the day of celebrating her 72nd birthday, Soul singer and icon Aretha Franklin reported plans to work on new music with OutKast rapper Andre 3000.
During a birthday party at the New York City Ritz-Carlton Hotel that featured an appearance from Denzel Washington, Franklin opened up to Billboard about the album “Babyface is working on the tracks,” she said of the Grammy-winning singer and songwriter.
"So, I'm just waiting for him to finish that so he can finish my tracks please," Franklin said of the singer’s current tenure as a guest star in the Broadway musical “After Midnight.”
Franklin went on to cite Andre 3000 as collaborating with Babyface on those songs. "And I think Andre 2000—is it two or three? 3000 is going to be doing some of the tracks with him,” she said.
Andre 3000 stars in an upcoming biopic on late guitarist Jimi Hendrix. Earlier this month, Danny Bramson, producer of the movie tentatively titled Jimi: All By My Side, spoke with Billboard about taking a chance on the rapper-turned-actor for the role.
"We bet the house on our one and only choice, Andre Benjamin," Bramson said. "Andre and I had ironically spoken once before—when I was producing music for Higher Learning.
John Singleton had turned me on to the scene in Atlanta and the song they delivered to us predated their first album. I flew to Atlanta probably two and half years ago and sat down with Andre; I could finally thank him. The idea of anyone playing Hendrix, let alone a right-handed guitarist, was one of the greatest challenges of the project.
I found a really patient teacher and put together a regimen for Andre when he came out to Los Angeles. He sat in a small studio, six hours a day, putting in dedication [to learn how to play left-handed]. His guitarmanship had to carry the idea of grace and fluidity.
John and I declared that we didn't want to have the camera cropped on his face and not the guitar.
He kept working in a rehearsal room throughout the production."

Bruse Wane f. Keith Murray & Fam-Illy, "Home Of The Spitters"

Wane Enterprises CEO and New York artist Bruse Wane presents "Return Of The Spitters (RMX)",
the new single from The Dark Knight Album.

The Day The Earth Stood Still. Produced by Al Walton Jr., "Spitters" features guest verses from Keith Murray as well as Fam-Illy, an artist on his Wane Enterprises roster. A native of the Bronxdale Houses Projects in the Soundview section of the Bronx,

Bruse founded Wane Enterprises in 2001, hosting events featuring Styles P, Papoose, N.O.R.E, Buckshot, Remy Ma and Keith Murray, who Bruse chose to bless the remix of the original version of "Return Of The Spitters", which can be heard on The Dark Knight Album.

"I began contemplating a remix with a legend on it.

Whoever I used I did not want to go too far back or too current, so Keith Murray was the perfect fit. Keith was one of those artist that lyrically raised the bar in Hip-Hop when he came out.

I kicked it with him on the phone, and shot him over the track.

Within a day he sent me back some heat for it, and the rest is history.

I wanted the song to pay homage to NYC street life and the fact that New York is the home of lyricism. This song is just me embracing that."

Chris Brown Jailed For A Month, Facing 4 Years For Violating Probation

Chris Brown must stay in jail until April 23 ..he was shut down in court Monday afternoon in his bid to win release.
Chris was arrested after getting booted from rehab Friday.

The judge had ordered him to stay in rehab while he decided whether Brown violated his probation in the Rihanna case.
The judge had Chris arrested almost immediately after the rehab facility kicked him out.

The judge said Chris had an "inability to stay out of trouble."  Hizzoner was especially concerned at a statement Chris made at the rehab joint, "I am good at using guns and knives."

So Chris will sit in jail until April 23.  The judge wants Chris in the slammer until a D.C. jury decides if Chris committed criminal assault in an unrelated case.  That trial is set for April 17 and should only last a few days.  It's unclear if the judge will let Chris back to attend the trial.

The L.A. judge will hold a probation violation hearing on April 23, and if Chris is convicted in D.C. he's in big trouble.  Worst case scenario ... he could be sentenced to 4 years in prison for violating probation in the Rihanna case.  One of the conditions -- obey all laws.

TMZ broke the story, Chris was booted from rehab Friday for violating three internal rules at the facility -- most significantly ... violating a rule specifically for Chris -- stay at least 2 feet away from every woman in the facility.  He was seen touching a woman's elbow and hands.

He also violated the rule requiring him to submit to a random drug test.  He belatedly had a change of heart and came up clean, but the initial refusal was a violation.

And Chris talked smack about rehab during a group therapy session.

Chris was arrested immediately after he got kicked out ... staying in rehab was a requirement of the judge pending his trial in D.C. next month for assault.

Vybz Kartel Convicted Of Murder

The artist, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was tried and convicted as one of the killers of one Clive “Lizard” Williams.

Kartel maintained his innocence, but was not able to convince a jury.

The jury came back with a guilty verdict after a mere two hours even though the trial took a whopping 65 days.

Kartel’s lawyer said they would vigorously appeal the decision and suggested the police were biased.

“We will not sit by and let this case of injustice score victory.

We will be appealing the verdict given the many questionable police corruption in the case,” the lawyer said according to UrbanIslands.com.

Kartel was acquitted of the murder of Barrington “Bossie” Burton last year.
The body of Clive Williams was never found, but authorities maintain it happened in a house owned by Kartel.

Three other men, Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, and André St John, were also found guilty in the murder.

Kartel faces life in prison.

HipHop Artist Vaig From Pittsburgh Get Down To Talk About His Music Project ( Interview)

Finally get to talk with Pittsburgh Artist Vaig a very talented up and coming artist in the music industry.

We really appreciate this moment you gave us to talk to you and let the world know exactly who is Vaig and what your music is all about.

Since Hip Hop music became a reference to a lot of people, we are really sure that they want to know more about you.

Tell us about you?
I’m an artist from Pittsburgh who paints pictures with words. Kind of an artistic way of saying I make music, I guess.  My music has been featured on Espn, Radio, Blogs, and etc.  My hobbies include collecting watches and flying remote control helicopters.  I also have a great body of work out right now entitled True to My Word which is available on all digital outlets

When did you start making music?
Music has always been in my family.  I was told my Great, Great, Great Grandfather would come home from working and to relax he would write poetry and make songs.  I guess those genes found their way to me because now I do the same thing.  But I starting making music officially about 10 years ago, that’s when I dreamed of this being a career for me

Who is your role model in the music world?
That’s a tough one. I wouldn’t say there is one particular person.  Id say there are a number of people.  You look at legends like the Outspoken Chuck D, You see how Pac was honest and poured his heart in his lyrics, You see the Lyricism of Rakim and Nas, The Grind and Hustle of People like Russell Simmons, Master P and Sean Combs, and the List goes on.  So to answer your question I can’t just put that to one person, I look at the accomplishments of everyone because you can learn from all of them.

Have you ever been so moved by a song that you cried? If so what was it?
It wasn’t a song but a poem. It was on that “Rose that Grew from Concrete” album by Pac. The name of the poem/song was “In the event of my Demise” and its talking about hoping to die for a purpose.  I relate to that because I hope when this lifes up, my life had a purpose.  I get emotional thinking of me not being here one day.   Matter fact when I go I don’t want nobody eating or nothing! I want people ballin their eyes out! I want there to be sad music playing and all that,..lol

Is there anything you would do differently in your career?
No, not really because everything I been through Ive been able to learn and grow from it so Im good

Who would you like to be as famous as?
I honestly don’t know.  Fame comes with the game but I just want to touch lives and make music. Then again the roar of a crowd of people rockin with you would be crazy! I guess Id like to be as famous as my music takes me.

What is your secret to be different from other musicians?
Be yourself because there can only be one YOU.  Nobody can be you, better that,…You.  It took me some time but I finally figured that out and it feels great because the person I compete with is ME.

Who would you want to do a tour/concert with?
To be honest, my peoples who Im coming up with now.  We like Family, so I would say my fam J Steez, Arson Amazing, Nesia Beatz, Shawn SMP, Charon Don, Mello Mac, Nova, and have my fam Dj Blakk Steel on the 1 & 2’s.  I think that show would be crazy!

Do you ever get lost in the music?
Absolutely! You have to.  Sometimes when I hear a beat I’ll just put it on repeat and zone out for hours just coming up with concepts.  I love riding around at night just listening to music, it helps me creatively to come up with the right words.

Do you plan to make music for as long as you can
I plan on making music for as long as there is air in these lungs. Its in my blood, and me denying music is denying myself.

What message do you send to your fans?
I hope the message I send to my fans and supporters is that life is all about getting back up after you fall.  When I say “Marchin to The Top!” That’s the War Cry for everybody who has been counted out and looked down on.  Don’t ever feel your worthless! Keep Pushin and goin hard.

Is there any site we can find you and listen to your latest song?
You can hear my latest song on my site TheOfficialvaig.com, its called “My Angel” and its for Free!

This interview allowed you to reveal yourself and talk more about you? If yes are you satisfy?
Yes Im more than satisfied and Im thankful to you for allowing me to have a platform, that means a lot.

Any last thing to mention?
My latest album “True to My Word” is available on all major digital outlets, Itunes, Rhapsody, Spotify, and recently added to Beats Music. So go grab it and let me know what you think.

Thank you very much for your time
Thank You!

Method Man Talks New Wu-Tang Clan Album & "How High" Sequel

Method Man described plans to develop a new How High sequel with fellow rapper/actor Redman, why he likes to perform as a part of a group on stage and how technology has affected the public life of many artists.

Speaking to his long career in the industry, Method Man described his not wanting to engage in the type of industry politics that many younger artists are forced into. “As far as sitting at award shows and being in these fucking ‘fanzines’ and blogging, the bullshit that comes with it, paparazzi jumping out the bushes on you and shit, we not built like that,” he said. “We don’t get down like that. It comes to a certain age, where, especially if you have kids, you gotta dial your shit down in the public eye to a point where it’s like, ‘Yeah, I do smoke, but I smoke in the house.’”

Meth added that contemporary artists keeping their public feuds to music represents a big change from the '90s. “The shit they do now as far as disrespecting each other on records and when they see each other everybody popping bottles, dudes used to fight, man,” Meth said. “I remember going to Jack the Rapper and dudes was fighting at that shit, and I ain’t talking about the goons, the actual artists was out there fucking thumping. How Can I Be Down? and all that shit. These dudes is just exposed to a lot more shit where they gotta be on their pivot and on they game a little bit more ‘cause there’s more cameras on now. And TMZ—remember when they wouldn’t even fuck with rappers?—now they don’t give a fuck.”

Method Man Describes Wu-Tang Clan Anniversary Performances
Referencing their recent celebration of 20 years since the drop of Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), Method Man described what it was like reuniting with the crew onstage. “Wu-Tang [Clan] twentieth anniversary,” he said. “We had fun, man. It was amazing. I’m always the last one to know anything, and there was a point in time in the show where these big fucking Wu-Tang balloons—they was like balls, huge fucking balls my G, pause—the crowd was just pushing these shits around, I wanted one of them things so bad, I couldn’t get my hand on one. It was a great fucking experience.”

Adding why he prefers to perform alongside his Wu-Tang brethren or frequent collaborator Redman, Meth detailed the excitement in playing shows together. “I told my manager this, and I’ve told a few people this, I’d rather do shows with Wu-Tang and Redman then do shows by myself,” he said. “Not saying I can’t do shows by myself ‘cause I have fun up there...but those, it’s like springboarding off of somebody else’s energy, there’s nothing like that.”

When asked about the group’s long history of releasing collective as well as individual material, Method Man referenced past “label obligations” putting a damper on the writing process. “We don’t have that problem no more,” he said. “So, now, my writing, I could take more time with it ‘cause I don’t have a date hanging over my fucking head and shit. The pen is just so much mightier now, I think that I’m at my writing peak, there is no age-limit on spitting. But there is an age-limit on this business as far as being an artist and jumping your ass up on stage and doing your thing. By the time we get to the age that we’re at, yes, we’re touring and shit like, but we’re touring because there’s a want and need for that aspect of the music at that point in time.”

Describing the possibility of a sequel to their cult film How High, Method Man said that, alongside Redman, he has plans to meet with script-writers to continue the franchise. “Funny you said that ‘cause we got a meeting tonight, with some guys that are writers, and they’re pretty hot right now,” he said. “I don’t wanna give they resume. I’m not a name dropper, but yeah, hopefully, something will come out of that because we’re gonna crash our ideas together tonight. I wanna see it get done, but I wanna see it get done right. ‘Cause if we do it and we just throw it out there, it has to [live up to the first one] or it’s gonna kill our bread. Hopefully we could springboard off that and do more ‘weed-esque’ movies. Like Cheech and Chong when they was doing it, you gotta have a Dazed and Confused movie every two years.”

Referencing B-Real’s own small role in the original, Meth added the movie will “need another Cypress Hill cameo.”

The rapper also told B-Real that fans can expect new music from the How High duo collectively down the line. “As a matter of fact, [Redman’s] gonna drop a mix joint, then he’s gonna drop his Muddy joint,” he said. “I’m gonna drop with this Wu-Tang shit, and then my last shit and my mix shit. And then, we’re gonna go in and do the Blackout 3. It’s going to be epic I believe, ‘cause Doc is where he need to be and I’m where I need to be right now. We just gotta get it together.”
