Blog Feature: Hip-Hop/RnB Artist DaButtonPusha (Tha Honest Femcee) Pittsburgh, Pa Talks About Her Music (Interview)

Finally get to talk with DaButtonPusha a very talented indie artist veteran  in the music industry.

We really appreciate this moment you gave us to talk to you and let the world know exactly who is DaButonPusha and what your music is all about.

Since Hip Hop music became a reference to a lot of people, we are really sure that they want to know more about you.

Tell us about you:
My Name is DaButtonPusha, Tagline – Tha Honest Femcee. I got my name from a  friend of mine 20 years because I would constantly be in my basement teaching myself something by pressing buttons. I am not new to the indie scene, I simple spent most of my musical career split between being an artist DaButtonPusha and the force behind an Entity JPB (Just Pressin’ Buttons Productions)

When did you start making music:
I began making music about 18 yrs ago. I begin as a DJ, moved to a producer, then femcee...plus some things.

Who is your role model in the music world:
KRS-One is the #1 reason why I have done anything with hiphop music. I seen hm perform in my town when I was 13yrs old – I wasn’t sure what he was doing – but it had an effect on me, I later seen him as an adult – I was in my late 20’s  - he was rapper and Im standing looking at him like he was GOD himself – and he stopped rapping  - looked at me and said “Do not look at me in awe, what I do – you can do” after that I got to work and I been on my grind since. I had been push many things, especially my network (JPBTV.COM). This year KRS1 came back to Pittsburgh. I hadn’t seen him since I was in my late 20’s. Again he is rapping – this time he stops in the middle of his verse, grabs the JPBTV card out of my hand, reads it to the crowd – and then proceeds to freestyle for 1 full min  to me into my camera…needless to say I think we have a special connect – even still I never personally meet the man. Seeing him this year convinced me to push my music stronger because everything else I had done for others was solid – ITS MY TURN NOW!

Is there anything you would do differently in your career:
Yes if I could change anything I have done u to this point, I probably would focus more on pushing myself and my music, instead of trying to help build a music scene when I live. However since I cannot go back in time, now is as good as any to change the trend.

Who would you want to do a tour/concert with:
My dream show would be with KRS-One – Queen La – Kellee Maize – Mel-Jay, Jasiri X, Immortal Tech, SaRoc, Mos Def, The Roots, Snoop Dog, Kendrick Lamar Erika Badu, Jill Scott and of course Me.

Do you ever get lost in the music:
All the music I make is because I got lost in a track; Im what you would call a composed free style. I now only make one verse bangaz  - therefore rapping myself in a repeative head-bang beat until something comes from the depth of me to the point where it’s a must to spit is kinda my creative process, then I write - .Never do I make music on demand. Im called the honest Femcee because my music is very simple, but deep and it’s very very honest. I overstand that the Micophone is a tool and I use it as such, however my main reason to making music is to VENT J stress relief!

Is there any site we can find you and listen to your latest song:
Sure a few I am on a few sites like Reverbnation, Soundcloud, MTv,Bandcamp, ect  however the easier way to find out everything about my music and videos is simply visit http://www.dabuttonpusha.com

Thank you very much for your time
I would just like to give a shot-out to you for interviewing me. All the people who have supported DaButtonPusha and JPBTv and my God. Special s/o to Boss Lady.

The Notorious B.I.G. Estate Suing Persistent R&B Royalty Seeker

The late, great Notorious B.I.G.’s groundbreaking debut Ready to Die is nearing its 20th anniversary but one particular artist is still seeking to purge his estate for royalties on the only record with a guest appearance.

Leroy Huston, former lead singer of acclaimed 70s R&B group The Impressions is saying “The What” featuring Method Man has been thriving in Hip-Hop head’s earphones for years with an uncleared sample.

The 1974 hit “Can’t Say Enough About Mom” isn’t credited in the creation of the Biggie track, which Huston says was done illegally and has even been campaigning against the slain rapper’s estate. He filed suit against the estate in April of this year.

According to documents obtained by The Jasmine Brand, Biggie’s mother Violetta Wallace, ex-wife Faith Evans and their legal counsel have had enough and they’re suing Huston for a court order that specifically states no copyright infringement has taken place.

Their rep also says the two portion used by producer Easy Mo Bee were done fairly and the ongoing campaign holds no merit.

Listen to The Notorious B.I.G.’s “The What” below and Leory Huston’s “Can’t Say Enough About Mom” on the following page for your own personal reference.
